Your dog is part of your family, so it is okay to search for friendly ways to train him or her. The following article will shed some light on some simple dog training tricks and tips that you can use to your benefit. Without seeking out the proper training knowledge in advance, any attempt to teach your pet will be met with failure.

Teach your dog no response is needed for the word ‘no’. When dog training, you’ll have to find a way to give positive reinforcement. The word ‘no’ itself is not enough to make your dog understand they need to stop what they are doing. Every situation and dog is different and their training should be tailored accordingly.

Reprimands should be delivered quickly and in a sharp tone. Do not waste time ranting about how bad your dog is. Say no and give them a command to do the right thing. Make sure your voice sounds firm and businesslike.

Timing is important when dog training, so you should spend sufficient time training him but should not overdo it. Begin with brief sessions and extend them from there. When your dog loses interest, quit for the day.

You have to be firm during dog training. However, don’t be too demanding or cruel as you want to be a loving master. This will help improve the relationship between you and your dog.

Being a dog owner can mean wondering if you will ever be able to train your canine. It can be easy when you know what to do and you take the time to do it every day.

With patience and a handful of tasty treats, you can easily teach your pet to roll over. Begin by getting the dog to lay down. Then, put a treat close to the floor near the side of the dog’s head, and gradually raise it over its head to the opposite side. Ideally, your dog will use his nose to follow the treat, rolling his whole body in the process. When they roll over, yell “roll over.” Keep doing this until they do it just with the command. It will probably take multiple attempts, but you will be the talk of the town when the trick is learned.

Is your dog getting the food he needs? Just as in the case of kids, dogs have the potential to grow hyper, bratty and scattered if they do not eat the right foods. Your dog will have better and more consistent energy if you are feeding him a species-appropriate diet. Your vet is an excellent source of information on the appropriate diet and nutritional requirements of your dog.

Using a different tone of voice for different purposes is a great teaching tool for training your dog. Use different tones for orders, praises, warnings and reprimands so your dog can easily distinguish your different reactions. Commands call for firmness; corrections need a louder volume and praise should be in your natural tone.

When leash-training your dog, keep some slack in the leash. Dogs love exploring new land whenever they get the chance to go walking. Because they are so eager, they will probably strain the leash. Rather than allowing this behavior to continue, a looser leash walk should be encouraged by the person in control of the animal.

This is the first step in being a great trainer. Choosing to follow some of the advice and tips in this article, will not only make you a better trainer, but a better listener, who can understand the needs of your dog. A bit of advice really helps immensely.
